When The Going Gets Tough...

...the tough get their asses sent home.

Remember Blackwater, the creepy, borderline fascist mercenary unit so beloved by the republicans? It seems like on Sunday they came under fire and they fired on bystanders, killing a bunch of Iraqi civilians, including a cop. Now, the Iraqi government has told everyone working for Blackwater to leave the country unless they're currently under investigation.

Interesting tidbit: The State Department convoy wasn't being guarded by the army, but by these guys. Why?

Do we have to take those assholes back? Personally, I think we could do without them.

It's a good thing Madonna's on the case. She should have this whole Middle East peace thing wrapped up faster than you can snog Britney Spears.

Of all the "accidental" atrocities, why take exception to this one? I'm not condoning BWO, especially with the name "Black Water," which sounds like a rejected movie script's name for a shadow organization or the Doobie Brothers gone wrong (Mississippi moon won'tcha keep on shining on me), but why the Iraqi government pick on them?

I'm sure there are other organizations and people that have done worse in the name of Haliburton.

Hey, thanks for the link, baby.

I am very troubled by our government's use of BW, especially in New Orleans, and potentially in CA.

Nothing's worse than a bunch of heavily armed guys who think they're in a Bruce Willis movie.

Good question, WP. Thanks for the thought-provoking blogfodder.

Vikki, any time, love. You had such a good discussion of the company that it seemed a shame to let it go to waste. You'd already said all the things I wanted to say about them.

And you're right, just about the only thing I can think of that's worse than having them over there dragging the last shreds of our reputation through the mud is, well, having them here.
