Intersection

On my way to work this morning, I stopped at the light, and looked up and across the cross traffic. There in the driver's seat of a big green van was a large guy with sort of standard issue gen-x facial hair. The only remarkable thing about this was that he was rocking his own private air arena on a colossal air drum kit.

As the light changed, I punched a few buttons on my radio, found the Bush song I was pretty sure he'd been listening to, and we went our opposite ways.

Zen.

Zen.

Ah, here's a misheard lyric for you.

For the longest time, I could not figure out the line "Try to see it once my way" at the beginning of the chorus. I hardly think it's my fault since Gavin Rossdale isn't the greatest of enunciators. Anyway, it always sounded like "Trashy was my wife." Like most of my misheard lyrics, I like it that way better.

There's a television commercial for a local radio station that could use you. In one of their ads, someone's looking out the window at the apartment building across the way where various people are jiving along to something (not creepy at all is it?) and then he tunes the right radio station in and all is well. In the real world, the cops would have shown up, no?

Is there really a Bush song that you can air drum to? Not enough fills or cymbals with that group, ya know?

I see your Yarr and raise you a poop deck.

What? I like Bush.

I love that, Becks. It's funny 'cause it's true!

That reminds me of a Best Buy commercial that's running now, Dale. A guy in an apartment highrise is on his balcony. He hears a cheer and turns his conveniently located telescope on the neighbors to see them celebrating their new television. His girlfriend comes out and asks what he's looking at. She looks through the scope, sees them kissing, calls him a creep, and storms off. He looks through and says "They weren't doing that a second ago."

Haven't these people ever heard of light pollution? If you live in the city and have a telescope on your balcony, you're not an amateur astronomer, you're a peeper. What did she think he was looking at?

Maybe not the whole song, WP, but there is a bit that you can air drum with in that one.
