Damned Dirty Apes!

This just in: chimpanzees are arming themselves to hunt other primates. You have been warned.

So childhood dreams really do come true? Planet of the Apes terrified me as a young lad. Or was it Charlton Heston. It blurs.

I think it was Roddy McDowell that scared me most of all.

They used to show the Planet of the Apes movies on the Early Show all the time when I was a kid. This was back when network television showed movies at 3 in the afternoon instead of circus freak talk shows.

Who am I kidding? I work and I have digital cable. I have no idea what they show on network television, much less at 3 in the afternoon.

Still, it's my blog, and I'll pontificate on the decline of western civilization whether I can marshall the appropriate facts or not. Anyone? What is on network tv in the afternoons now instead of third-run movies and Scooby Doo reruns?

The Tyra Banks show? Growing Pains Reruns? Reba?

I used to love the 'Midday Matinee' and faked sick to watch all those Born Innocent and The Devils Triangle movies that might make me laugh now but were pretty terrifying at the time.

Or Ray Harryhausen's skeletons from Jason and the Argonauts... still amazing, but not quite the same as when I was in grade school.
