no!! nonononono!! Not that!! Here, I've got a whole drawer full of words and even a bunch of hyphens and tildes-- I'll mail you some.

(caveat: some assembly required; I got them from a really cheap dictionary that wasn't in alphabetical order and they all slid off the page when I opened it).

reminds me of a story Stephen King told about James Joyce:

a friend came to visit Joyce and found the writer sprawled over his manuscript in a heap. "James! what's wrong?" asked the friend, "is it the writing?"

James just nodded miserably.

"well, how much did you write today?" the friend asked.

Joyce said, "seven words..."

"yes, but for you, that's good!" said his friend.

"but I don't know what ORDER they go in!" James despaired.

"I've run out of words."

Do like the Illresident Shrub and pull some out of your posterior.

You're too busy thinking in syllables. Haikuing has drained you. There are plenty of words out there. Go back to freestyle.

I'm back from the northern reaches where the wild thesaurus roams, and I have words again. Thanks to everyone who voted for (and put up with) haiku week, even when it spilled over into your comments sections.

The forecast for the week is longwindy with scattered metaphors.
