Havana Affair

So, let me get this straight...

If you're a convicted terrorist living illegally in the United States, and you've bombed airliners and hotels, and you've served time for attempting to assassinate a foreign head of state, and you are currently on the run after escaping from a foreign prison, the U.S. government will refuse to go after you.

If you're an award-winning filmmaker who goes to Cuba while working on a documentary about health care, they will.

How's that war on terror working out for us?

Our government likes to go after people who rub them the wring way. While a criminal fleeing from justice is a bad thing, we need them out there scaring Americans into supporting an unstoppable war. A filmmaker whose work may open an eye or two here and there is more dangerous.

Yeah-- remember how they went after Jello Biafra, who had a Giger print in an album that had wangs in it, but didn't go after Prince, who had schlongs all over his albums covers. Oh, yeah-- Jello protested government policies and Prince just talking about doing the nasty.

Some day a Democrat will have the wisdom to know that they will never truly have the support of the Cuban community in Miami, and the cojones to reform our Cuba policy. It's such a laughably hypocritical piece of shit policy.

It's simple enough. All he has to do is enroll in a flight school and then say that he doesn't want to learn how to land a plane, he only wants to learn how to take off. Then he will be invisible to the government.

Jeez. What ever happened to the days of revolution? Are we Americans too fat and lazy now for that kind of action?

I don't understand how this administration can keep sinking to a new low. Shouldn't they eventually hit bottom?

You know, Vikki, Clinton was on his way to doing that in 1996. Brothers to the Rescue provoked a new confrontation with Cuba and scuttled the attempt to relax the embargo and restore regular relations.

I'll do something, Becks... just as soon as I finish Final Fantasy XII.
